Deepavali Celebration 2018 at Little India, Singapore

Hey Loves!

If you happen to have plans to travel to Singapore around early November or in need of an authentic Indian meal or tiffin, it would be of no surprise if I suggest that you drop by Little India. Little India like the name suggests has all things Indian, liven up your senses with sounds of temple bells, surge of flavors, sights and sounds all around Serangoon Road that is sure to excite your senses.

As we count down to Deepavali in less than a handful of days, there is a wide array of beautiful sights and events awaiting for you! If you're feeling homesick, Little India is the place to be to bask in the Deepavali spirit around Campbell Lane and the neighboring streets around. What's more is that all events are conveniently hosted in English and are kid-friendly. This will come in handy for easy understanding and learning more of how Hindus celebrate Deepavali!

I hear Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association (LISHA) are holding a Boomerang competition and the best Deepavali boomerang can snag a SGD 1,000 in cash! That's quite a sum to have during the festive season, sweet!

3rd Nov '18 (Saturday)
Spend the Saturday evening at the Play Street after Dark at Clive Street. Families with kids can get creative and illustrate your favorite food onto little lamps in light of Deepavali and watch your lamps with many others create a beautiful line up with personalized unique designs. This will serve to be an artistic approach to signify the light at the end of the tunnel.

10 Nov '18 (Saturday)
If you'd like to watch a movie outdoors, this will have to be it. Grab your favorite movie snack, pakora, murukku or samosa and get ready to munch away while catching a movie under the stars with other members of the public. Movie is anticipated to start at 7.30pm so be sure to arrive well before time to reserve a good spot at the Promenade at Indian Heritage Centre.

17 Nov '18 (Saturday)
Witness Little India's iconic Campbell Lane transform into a playground offering traditional Indian games from 4pm to 6pm. This will be a great event to learn more of the type of games originated from India tweaked to fit our multi-racial local community. This will broaden our understanding of  the types of recreational activities the Indian forefathers played, great for everyone in Singapore to capture beautiful memories and try new games.

Right after indulging in traditional Indian games, get ready to cool down and enjoy the evening with 'The Silk Roots', a Musical Interlude featuring local talented composers from 7pm. Sway in unison of classical Indian flute, Indian Percussion, Bass and Pipa. Yes, you heard that right! An interesting musical cocktail not to be missed. For the final event concluding the line up of Deepavali festivities, is the fire dance. Don't miss out on this opportunity or you'll have regrets.

Make sure to drop by Little India during the weekends in November with your family and friends and don't miss out on the events taking place there. For more information about the events listing, click here to download their e-brochure here!
